We're working on the following projects: The Science Fair Project and the Charity Project. We recently completed the Bedroom Dioramas and these are on display. Some members of our 5th grade classes also participated in the Robotics Competition. (Some pictures of that event are displayed below.)
5th Grade Charity Project
The Bedroom Diorama Project is a class assignment that focuses on measurement. Students are asked to measure the perimeter, area and volume of their bedrooms. It might be fun to measure your kid's room together and then create furniture and decorations. If the furnishings don't look exactly like what they have, it's OK.
The Regional Robotics Competition was held April 19 from 8:45 am - 1:15 pm at the Weitendorf Agricultural Education Center.
Some Comments from Ms. O'Connell:
Our Laraway Robotics team (4) received a Robotics Team T-Shirt and blue ribbon at the conclusion of the event. We are also proud to be bringing home a trophy for "The Best Teamwork" team! Our final scores will not be posted by the organizers of the event until later in the week.
I was VERY proud of our kids. I had numerous visitors from other districts (both kids and adults) come up me and comment on how impressed they were with us. One principal from the Plainfield district thought we have been at this for many years. This was our 1st year.
Our 8th grade Robotics team was interviewed and had a photo op with Congressman Bill Foster. Photos to be released soon.
